A Sikh lawyer and human rights activist Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur has given a call to the global Sikh community to mark 10 December as Black Turban Day. Notably, 10th December marks the annual International Human Rights Day and the United Nations theme on this day for 2023 is “Freedom, Equality and Justice for All”.
Sikh Federation (UK) has responded to the US Justice Department unsealing the indictment against Indian national Nikhil Gupta for plotting to assassinate a US Sikh activist that was directed by an Indian government employee.

The Supreme Court of India (SCI) today dismissed appeal field by National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India against bail granted to Scottish national Jagtar Singh alias Jaggi Johal.
British authorities have reportedly refused visa to mother and sister of Sikh activist Avtar Singh Khanda. Avtar Singh Khanda died in a hospital in UK on June 15, 2023. He is survived by his mother and sister who live in (East) Punjab in India.
Sikh activist Avtar Singh Khanda, who was active in England for past several years, has passed away. As per initial reports, Avtar Singh Khanda was hospitalized where it was diagnosed that his white blood cell count was very low.

Jagtar Singh, commonly known as Jaggi Johal, was picked by Punjab police up from Ramamandi (Jalandhar) on 4 November 2017. Police later recorded his arrested in FIR number 193/2016 (police station Baghapurana).

NIA special court here today dismissed bail application moved by arrested Scottish citizen Jagtar Singh Johal alia Jaggi in a case pertaining to alleged attack on Amit Arora. Jagtar Singh Johal's counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said that the NIA special court has dismissed the bail plea. "Bail application is dismissed but we are waiting for detailed order", he told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN).
