Ludhiana: Arrested UK citizen Jagtar Singh Jaggi and Jimmy Singh was presented before a duty magistrate in Ludhiana today. Jagtar Singh Jaggi was presented in case FIR No. 218/17 (PS Salem Tabri) while Jimmy Singh was presented in case FIR no. 6/17 (PS Division No. 8).
FIR No. 218/17 (PS Salem Tabri) pertains to killing of Pastor Sultan Masih and FIR no. 6/17 (PS Division No. 8) pertains to killing of Shiv Sena activist Amit Sharma.
A team of three members of British High Commission, led by Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew Ayre was present in the court.
Jagtar Singh Jaggi’s council Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that the court asked Jagtar Singh Jaggi that if he wish to say something and Jagtar Singh Jaggi pleaded innocence and said that he was not involved in any other cases. Jaggi also told the magistrate that he wishes to meet representatives of British High Commission in privacy.
On being asked by the court, the representatives of the British High Commission said that they had no motive to interfere with any judicial or investigative process in any matter. They said that they were ready to meet Jagtar Singh Jaggi, if the court allows request of Jagtar Singh Jaggi in this regard.
The court accepted the request and the directed the police to arrange for a private meeting of Jagtar Singh Jaggi and the 3 representatives of the British High Commission between 6 pm to 7 pm today (Nov. 24).
“The court gave the British High Commission team a copy of the directions issued to the police to arrange for a meeting between the High Commission delegation and Jagtar Singh Jaggi in separate room in privacy. The copy of order was also given to ACP Maninder Singh Bedi”, Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur.
