Facebook Page of US based human rights group “Sikhs for Justice” banned in India

Chandigarh: A US based human rights and advocacy group called “Sikhs for Justice” had caused much “discomfort” to the Indian state, Indian government/s and Indian politicians in recent past. Besides holding demonstration against Indian politicians in USA and Canada, the SFJ also filed lawsuits against many Indian politicians including congress leader Kamal Nath, Sonia Gandhi, former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and president Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their visits to USA or Canada. These lawsuits were filed for alleged involvement of these officials in mass human rights abuses committed under their governance.

In an apparent retaliation bid the government of India has reportedly banned the Facebook page of Sikhs for Justice. SJF Facebook page has more than 86K fans and the human rights group was using their page to post updates related to human rights abuses in Punjab and elsewhere in India.

Though no official information is available about ban on Sikhs for Justice’s Facebook page in India, but people believe that the page stands banned in India, as the page is not accessible in India.
