Forgotten citizens 1984 campaign to start from Jallianwala Bagh on Oct. 21

Amritsar, Punjab (October 16, 2012): According to information available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) various organizations have announced to start ‘Forgotten Citizen’ campaign from Jallianwala Bagh on October 21st, 2012.

According to media reports, in this regard, Senior Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Harwinder Singh Phoolka said that as per government records, around 3000 people were killed in 48 hours during 1984 violence against Sikhs which counts to one killing in less than a minute but culprits are roaming free for last 28 years, without being held responsible.

The Forgotten Citizens 1984 Campaign

“Youth of today had decided to start the campaign ‘Forgotten Citizens’ where many organizations pledged to fight for the injustice done to Sikhs.” reads a press statement issued in this regard by the organizors of “Forgotten citizens” movement.

“Through Forgotten Citizens, we plan to request Government to provide justice to them who lost their families in Delhi 1984 riots” the statement reads further.

According to information many organizations including Sikh Forum, SikhiSidak, Gyan SewaTrust, Better Sikh School, Bibek Trust, Lok Raj Sangthan, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, ASYO, YSL, Akal Network, Vismaad, had joined hands together to show support and unity against justice denied to Sikhs for 1984 Delhi Carnage.

The campaign would reportedly go to cities like Sultanpur Lodhi, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh displaying mobile picture exhibition on 1984 Carnage. The campaign would reach Delhi on October 28.

“On 3rd November, 3 PM we plan to move together from Jantar Mantar to Parliament House and submit our memorandum/petition to Prime Minister of India” Advocate HS Phoolka reportedly told media at Amritsar on October 15, 2012.
