New Delhi, India (May 17, 2014): Former Journalist, author and Sikh activist, Jarnail Singh, who joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) before the Lok Sabha elections, lost the West Delhi Lok Sabha seat to Bhartiya Janta Party’s candidate with a difference of more than 2.68 lakh votes. The votes were counted on 16 May.
BJP, a Hindutva supremacist party, won all 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
Journalist Jarnail Singh was able to secure second place with more than 3.83 lakh (3,82,809) votes. Winning candidate, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma of BJP secured more than 6.51 lakh votes (6,51,395).
Congress candidate Mahabal Mishra lasted third with little more than 1.93 lakh (193266) votes.
Interestingly, another persons named Jarnail Singh was contesting from this seat as independent candidate. He was able to secure more than 84 thousand (84722) votes.
