Sikhs of Haryana end dominance of Badals in their state, lesson for father-son to shun arrogance, says Dal Khalsa

Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 08, 2014): Dal Khalsa has said that by exercising their right, the Sikhs of Haryana has sought separate Gurdwara body from their state government.
Spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh the Haryana Sikhs have expressed their desire to run their religious institutions free from the stranglehold of Badals and their coterie.
He said from the day first the Dal Khalsa was of the view that Haryana Sikhs should be given the right to express their choice free from all pressures.

He slammed Akalis for allowing the problem to linger.
To silence the dissenting voices Badals have a habit of portraying his opponents and adversaries as agents of Congress, however this political weapon of Akalis has become meaningless and irrelevant with the changing situation. He felt that the tug-of-war between Akalis of Punjab and Sikhs of Haryana on this issue was showing the community in a poor light.
For Sikhs, it’s ironic that protagonists of the separate gurdwara panel were siding with the Congress where as Akalis opposing it had sought the help of the BJP to stop it. “Both have paved the way for the external intervention in Sikh religious affairs”, he observed.
“Parkash Singh Badal’s repeated assertion that Sikh Gurdwara Act, 1925 is a central act is not true”. It’s a state (Punjab Provincial) Act, said he. However, after Punjab was divided into three parts in 1966, the SGPC became inter-state body corporate. There’s a lacuna whether Haryana government needs approval of Union government or President’s assent to establish separate SGPC, he said.
