Patiala, Punjab: Where as various Sikh bodies are urging people to support programs planned to mark 30th anniversary of Sikh genocide 1984, death row convict and Sikh prisoner Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has opposed Nov. 01 Punjab Bandh call and Nov. 03 program to submit memorandum to the United Nations’ office.

In a letter written in Punjab, a copy of which is sent to the Sikh Siyasat News by Rajoana’s sister, Balwan Singh Rajoana alleged that a call of bandh given by All India Sikh Students Federation (Peermohammad) to mark the 30 years of Sikh gneocide 1984 is nothing but a “farce”. In his letter Rajoana has expressed similar views about a program planned by the Dal Khalsa to submit joint memorandum to the United Naitons’ Office seeking UN intervention for securing justice for the victims of Sikh Genocide 1984. He said that such calls would do no benefit to the Sikhs.

While issuing an appeal to the people to stay away from the from these functions, Rajoana, in his letter, said “[b]oth these actions are not even remotely related to the pain and sufferings, which the community passed through in 1984. These activities are being initiated at the behest of Congress to prepare its ground for 2017 elections”.

He said that people must decimate all political parties in 2017 assembly elections and establish our own true rule, which would be dedicated to the Sikh nation.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rajoana had fielded her sister as an independent candidate from Patiala Lok Sabha seat, which she contested unsuccessfully.
