Sikh Sangat stops screening of Nanak Shah Fakir movie in Delhi Cinemas

New Delhi: Sikh anger against the Nanak Shah Fakir movie out-busted today after the movie was released by film-maker Harinder Sikka, despite opposition and appeals for withdrawal of the film. The screening of the film, that has already been banned in Punjab and Chandigarh, was opposed by Sikh youth in Delhi.

Sikh youth activists had tendered memorandums to certain Cinema halls in Delhi to stop screening of the movie.

“The film was not screened by Cinemas we had talked to … but it was screened by some other cinemas”, said Harminder Singh and Iqbal Singh, adding that: “… but when Sikh youth came to know about the screening of Nanak Shah Fakir film in some cinemas, the screening was opposed by Sikh sangat”.
They told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that Sikh sangat stopped screening of Nanak Shah Fakir movie at Fun Cinemas (VFS Mall) Laxmi Nagar.
“The 4 pm show of Nanak Shah Fakir movie was stopped at Fun Cinemas in Laxmi Nagar was stopped after a strong protest by the Sikh sangat”, said Iqbal Singh.
He said that 9 pm show of Nanak Shah Fakir film was also stopped at PVR Cinemas in Narayana.
It is notable that two Sikh youth activists namely Harminder Singh and Savinder Singh, who were arrested by the Delhi police this morning were released this evening around 9 pm.
