Congress state chief Partap Bajwa suspends Ludhiana party leader Parminder Mehta

Chandigarh: The Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa today placed under suspended party secretary Parminder Mehta from Ludhiana with immediate effect.
Condemning strongly the views expressed by Mehta on June 02, Partap Bajwa said the party had nothing to do with such inflammatory utterances.
In a statement posted on Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee’s Facebook Page Partap Bajwa said it appeared that the above said leader was airing such provocative views at somebody’s behest to deliberately vitiate atmosphere in the state.

It is notable that in a highly provocative move Parminder Mehta along with some other local leaders of the Congress party had torn images of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale from posters/ hoardings placed by the Damdami Taksal (Mehta).
In a written statement released to media persons in Ludhaina, Parminder Mehta termed Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as “terrorist”. He said that Congress party won’t tolerate any poster or banner promoting or supporting “terrorist” activities in Punjab.
