ASP suspended after Rajoana assaults Kanwar Sandhu in Patiala jail

Patiala, Punjab: An assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of the Central Jail, Patiala has reportedly been placed under suspension after yesterday’s incident in which inmate Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana reportedly assaulted senior journalist Kanwar Sandhu.

Assistant superintendent Jagmel Singh Sandhu is suspended for allegedly violating norms by arranging a meeting of Balwant Singh Rajoana, with senior journalist Kanwar Sandhu on Saturday.

As per information Kanwar Sandhu had gone to Patiala jail to meet Balwant Singh Rajoana with the help of Jagmel Singh Sandhu, the ASP.

Kanwar Sandhu posted his reaction on Facebook around 8.30pm in which hr maintainted that he was invited by Bibi Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana, sister of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana,  to meet Rajoanq to know his concern.

Kanwar Sandhu wrote, “There was an unfortunate incident this afternoon. After the videos, ‘Confessions of a Punjab Police Cop’ were uploaded on YouTube, I was approached last week by a lady, Kamaldeep Kaur, who said that she was Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana’s sister. She said that I should have taken his version on issues concerning him. I told her that this was not done as these were video reports and videography was not possible in jail. I said she could send the version and I would use it as it is still a developing report. She said that I should meet Rajoana for the version and offered to arrange the meeting in jail.” [Read full reaction of Kanwar Sandhu]
