Chandigarh: In a written release, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) today said allegations of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) selling tickets for the forthcoming assembly elections in Punjab had come true with senior leader H S Phoolka trying to distance himself from this trade.
In a statement here, Badal Dal general secretary Dr Daljit Cheema said it was clear from H S Phoolka’s statement that some elements in AAP were indulging in malpractices.
Badal Dal leader said Phoolka had tried to distance himself from this sordid trade by asking ticket seekers not to come to his door. He however said try as he might, H S Phoolka could not absolve himself from blame on this score.
“You are closest to the outsider elements of AAP who are being accused of collecting money from gullible Punjabis. If you are truly sincere and have no role in ticket distribution you should expose such elements and save Punjabis from being duped”, he added.

Ruling party spokesman said the video was also reflective of the autocratic rule in AAP in which Punjab leaders did not have any say. He said AAP leaders from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were calling the shots in the Punjab unit of the party and people like Phoolka had no option but to vent their frustration through such videos.
Dr Cheema said it was unfortunate that AAP had taken Punjabis for granted and felt they could be brow beaten into submission. He said Punjabis were a proud community and would never tolerate playing second fiddle to outsiders.
“What AAP is trying to do by imposing outsiders on Punjabis is very insulting and will not be tolerated”, he said adding Phoolka should stop worrying whom people should approach to seek tickets. “Instead you should apologise to Punjabis for introducing this culture of forcible money collection through fund raising programmes in Punjab. This culture has resulted in even party tickets being put on sale. You should condemn this culture and expose it. If you can’t do so please stop posting videos which try to project you as being different from your own party men”, Daljit Cheema added.
