New York, USA (September 24, 2011): Hundreds of Sikhs protested in front of UN Headquarters during PM Manmohan Singh’s address to the General Assembly, demanding to sack Kamal Nath for his role in attack on Sikhs during November 1984 and Sikhs right to self determination.

Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) announced that a protest rally will be held on November 02 in Cannes, France where PM Singh will be attending G-20 Summit to remind the world that PM Singh’s regime is shielding the human rights violators.

While PM Singh was supporting Palestinians’ right to “self determination” inside the UN Hall, outside on the streets, hundreds of Sikhs gathered to remind India that they have been denied the same right to self determination by India.

According to attorney Gurpatwant S. Pannun legal advisor to SFJ, Sikhs are protesting in front of UN to remind the world that India is duty bound under UN Convention on Genocide to prosecute the killers of November 1984 Sikh Genocide. Twenty Seven (27) years later, PM Singh’s Government has failed to prosecute the perpetrators and instead is rewarding the killers of Sikhs with Cabinet positions, added attorney Pannun.

Quoting PM Singh’s speech at the UN in which he said “India is steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people’s struggle for a sovereign, independent, state of Palestine”, attorney Pannun stated that while India openly supports Palestinians’ right to self determination at the same time, India crushes and suppresses the peaceful demand for “self determination” by Sikhs in Punjab.

The protest rally was organized by ‘Sikhs For Justice” a human rights advocacy group with the support of Management Committees of Tri State Area Gurudwaras. The Sikh organizations have pledged to raise at international level the issue of denial of justice to the victims of 1984 Sikh Genocide and the Sikhs right to Self-determination as per UN Charter.
