Amritsar: The Sikh panth today remembered Sikh martyrs Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha at Akal Takht Sahib on their martyrdom day. Today’s samagam was attended by Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) officials, family members of the Sikh shaheeds and representatives of various Sikh organizations – including Dal Khalsa, Sikh Youth of Punjab and AISSF.
During today’s Shaheedi Samagam, Bhog of Akhand Paath Sahib were held in the memory of Shaheed Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Ragi Singhs recited Gurbani Kirtan. After the Ardas, Hukumnama was recited by Darbar Sahib head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh.
Family members of Sikh martyrs – including Bhupinder Singh (brother of Shaheed Harjinder Singh Jinda), Wariam Singh (brother of Shaheed Satwant Singh), Manjit Singh (brother of Shaheed Amrik Singh) were honoured from Akal Takht Sahib.
Bhai Jinda-Sukha, as they are commonly called and remembered by the Sikhs, had openly admitted to have executed former Indian Army chief Arun Vaidya in Pune. In a letter written to then President of India, Bhai Jinda-Sukha had said that they had no personal enmity against Arun Vaidya and they had followed the historical precedence to punish Vaidya for commanding Indian army to invade the Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) and other Sikh Gurdwaras in June 1984.
