Students remembered victims of Sikh genocide by donating eyes

Jalandhar (November 03, 2011): More than two hundred students of Layllpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar donated their eyes in the memory of thousands of Sikhs massacred during November 1984 genocidal violence against Sikhs. In a brief samagam held at Gurudwara Sahib of Layllpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar students gathered to remember the innocent victims of this heinous crime. Students pledged to continue to observe follow the path of “welfare of all”, as shown by the Sikh Gurus.

Eyes donation camp organized by SSFThis eye donation camp was organized by college unit of Sikh Students Federation with the help of NSS unit and Sri Guru Harkrishan Eye Hospital (Sohana). SSF unit president Preet Singh said that 203 students donated their eyes in the memory of Sikh Genocide 1984.

SSF National President Parmjeet Singh Gazi said that genocidal violence of 1984 against Sikhs has attained the status of “cultural trauma” and coming generations would continue to feel its’ pain.
