Amritsar/Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh today paid obeisance at Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. This was Capt. Amarinder’s first visit to Darbar Sahib after he won 2017 assembly elections and became CM of Punjab.

The Punjab police had made tight security arrangements at the Darbar Sahib complex.

Police personnel in uniform as well as in civil dress prevented Congress workers from getting around the Punjab CM and also manhandled media persons who were trying to click pictures of CM in parikarma.

Punjab CM was welcome by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC)’s executive committee members and officials at ‘Information Centre’. SGPC officials endowed him with Siropa and presented him a set of books.

SGPC chief secretary Harcharan Singh said that many dignitaries visit Darbar Shaib without causing harassment for the Sangat but this time the Punjab police officials did not trust the SGPC, which led to harassment of the Sangat.

Due to strictness of the police the media persons were not able to interact with Capt. Amarinder Singh during his visit at Darbar Sahib.

Capt. Amarinder was accompanied by cabinet minister Manpreet Badal, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujala, MLA Pargat Singh, Harminder Singh Gill, Dr. Dharamvir Agnihotri, Raminder Singh Sikkar and others.
