Chandigarh: Sikh political prisoner Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara today welcomed the move undertaken by the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and various Sikh groups to bring in unity and work hand in hand on the issue of observing June 1984 Ghallughara Samagam.
Notably this annual event from the past few years has been marred with clashes within the Darbar Sahib complex between the SGPC task force and the activists of various Sikh groups. But this time the SGPC by meeting with the representatives of various Sikh bodies has sent a signal within the Sikh circle that it wll ensure that the event is observed by strictly adhering to the Sikh Maryada.
Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that ”Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara attended court proceedings of Ludhiana court through video conference from Tihar jail itself”. He has welcomed the move of unity and said that June 1984 ghallughara is a ‘cultural trauma’ for the Sikhs and the respective Sikh bodies should act in a serene manner and practice restrain while observing the event, he adds.
