Bathinda: A new book titled “Rajghat Te Hamla” is set to be unveiled during a significant Gurmat Samagam at Village Kotbhara in the upcoming days. Scheduled for the 25th of May, this event holds special significance as it marks the 40th anniversary of Teeja Ghallughara, the June 1984 attack by the Indian army on Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Akal Takht Sahib, and other Sikh gurdwaras.
Authored by Baljinder Singh Kotbhara, the book delves into a compelling narrative surrounding a notable incident. It recounts the courageous act of Karamjit Singh Sunam, a Sikh individual, who made an attempt on the life of then Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the aftermath of the November 1984 Sikh genocide. This genocide followed the execution of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by two Sikhs, Bhai Beant Singh and Bhai Satwant Singh.
Panth Sewak Bhai Hardeep Singh Mehraj, speaking to Sikh Siyasat News, emphasized the significance of the Gurmat Samagam. He highlighted its role in commemorating and honoring the memory of the Sikh shaheeds (martyrs) of June 1984, acknowledging their sacrifices and the events that shaped Sikh history.
