Canada (October 31, 2012): Surrey, B.C. based activist Kanwal Jit Singh Gill has written an open letter to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper ahead of his visit to India. Mr. Gill has sent to copy of letter to Sikh Siyasat News via email, which reads as follows:
To,
Stephen Harper
Prime Minister of Canada,
Ottawa.Dear Mr. Harper,
You will be starting your visit to India on Nov. 3rd which is one of the tragic days in India. 28 years ago Nov. 3rd was one of the days when thousands of innocent Sikhs were being killed, women were being raped and properties were being burnt in 1984 Sikh Genocide – organised, planned and executed by the ruling Congress Govt. led by Rajeev Gandhi.
Rajeev Gandhi never felt sorry for thousands of innocent lives lost. Infact he justified the Sikh Genocide and innocent killings by saying,”When a big tree falls, it makes the earth shakes.” His Govt. never made any effort to provide justice to the victim families and punish the guilty persons involved in killing innocent persons. On the other hand Rajeev Gandhi protected all the guilty persons from the punishment, and infact rewarded some of the guilty Congress leaders, who led mobs to kill innocent persons, with positions in his Cabinet. Maybe such guilty Cabinet Ministers might be present in your meetings with India’s PM. And following Rajeev Gandhi’s lead, the other ruling Congress Govts. have failed to punish the guilty in 28 years.
Mr. Harper, normally Canada claims to be a champion to raise voice against Human Rights violations and innocent killings in many other countries. But for some strange Business and Political reasons, the Canadian Govt. has failed to raise voice against innocent killings in 1984 Sikh Genocide or demannd justice for the innocent victim families or punishment to the guilty persons in 28 years.
During your meetings with Indian Govt., the Indian Govt. might complain about Sikh extremists and their activities in Canada. Indian Govt’s smart Intelligence agents know about the Sikh extremists activities in Canada. Mr. Harper may be you should question the Indian PM that how come your smart Intelligence agents know every thing about the Sikh extremists in Canada, but they don’t know anything about guilty persons involved in killing thousands of innocent persons in 1984 Sikh Genocide ? Why those smart Inteligence agents, CBI, Police etc. have failed to arrest, charge or punish the guilty persons in 28 years ? And why the CSIS don’t know anything about this Sikh extremism in Canada that Indian agents know about?
Mr. Harper, Please tell Indian PM & Govt. that Sikhs living in Canada are very hard working, law abiding and peaceful citizens. But Sikhs living in Canada and western countries feel very bad about thousands of innocent lives lost in 1984 Sikh Genocide and Indian Govt’s failure to provide any justice to the victim families and punish the guilty persons in 28 years.
Mr. Harper, another thing you can tell Indian PM is that Sikhs in Canada and other countries are organising Blood Donation Drives to remember and pay homage to the thousands of innocent lives lost in 1984 Sikh Genocide and to tell the World that Sikhs are peace loving and try to save lives. Since this Blood Donation drive has started, it has saved 67,000 lives and thousands more will be saved in future years.
Mr. Harper, please enjoy your visit to India but at the same time remember to tell the Indian PM & Govt. that Canada is against Human Rights violations and innocent killings. And 28 years is a long time not to provide justice to the victim families.
Yours Sincerely,
Kanwal jit Singh Gill
