Paying glowing tributes to Sahibzada’s, SYP urges youth to overcome petty temptations and fears

Kartarpur/Jalandhar (December 27, 2012): To commemorate the martyrdom day of two younger sons and mother of Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh, the ‘Sikh Youth of Punjab’ (SYP) today organized a ‘Khalsa March’ in the town of Kartarpur, 15 kms from here.

Paying glowing tributes to the martyrs, the activists, young boys and girls under the leadership of Ranbir Singh and Paramjit Singh marched through the town with saffron flags and banners in hand. The speakers said both Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh at the age of 9 and 7, succeeded in carrying out the ultimate resistance to greed and intimidation. They said the ruling tyrants failed to break their commitment or coerce them into any compromise. They urged the present youth to draw inspirations from supreme sacrifices of Sahibzada’s and overcome petty temptations and fears.
A leaflet carrying a message of the youth body, which was established 4 years back on this day, was distributed amongst passerby.
Blaming lawlessness in Punjab and India as product of criminalization of politics, the organization’s head blamed political leadership for perpetuating a corrupt system, which provides no room for innovation and new talent. Ranbir Singh said like India, political dynasties now flourish in Punjab too and rued that because of this, unworthy heirs of political leaders are having a field day.
Expressing their deep concern and grief over the increased rape incidents especially the horrific and gruesome gangrape of 23 year woman in Delhi, he blamed it on India’s lacklustre criminal justice system. To drive his point, he quoted MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s statement that 73 percent of the rape accused, 72 per cent of the molesters, 71 per cent kidnappers and 65 per cent of the dowry death accused in India goes unpunished.
He condemned the Delhi police for using excessive power on young boys and girls who have been holding demonstration outside the corridors of power. He said apart from building strict rape laws, the need of the hour was to raise mental level of patriarchal society towards the women. He termed the increased violence against the women as societal problem and added that the state’s incompetence and inept handling of such cases had made it worst.
Groups’ vice-president Paramjit Singh was of the view that growing apostasy, proliferation of deras, large-scale corruption in politics and rising drug trafficking in Punjab has left demoralizing effects on the lives of youth.
