Chittisinghpura: a black spot on the face of so-called largest democracy – SSF

November 24, 2009 | By

Patiala (November 24, 2009): Terming it a failure of Indian State System to fulfill its’ responsibility to ensure justice to all its’ citizens, as is promised by the Constitution, the Sikh Students Federation took a serious note of exposure made by former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah that ‘vested interests had sabotaged the investigations of Chittisinghpura massacre’. On 20th of March in 2000 the then US President Bill Clinton was in India on a visit and 34 Sikhs were massacred in Chittisinghpura (J&K) in wake of his visit. The US and the Sikhs refused to subscribe to the explanation put forward by India that this massacre is handiwork of Pakistani Terrorists. In 2006 Former President of US, Mr. Clinton acknowledged that the massacre took place in wake of his visit to India. SSF President S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi, in a press statement has said that Farooq’s statement has affirmed that this massacre was outcome of vested interests of ‘the powerful’ within India and none else. ‘We value the advise given by Farooq to Sikhs that they should pressurize Sikh Prime Minister to order re-probe of the massacre but what Sikhs can expect from a person who is advising them to forget massacre of November 1984 and 25 years of injustice altogether?’ says the statement.

SSF has appealed the influential Human Rights Groups and international community to pressurize the Indian State system to unveil the truth and ensure justice for struggling nations including the Sikhs.
