Amritsar, Punjab (October 18, 2013): In a statement issued from it’s Amritsar based head office the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has said that not allowing an Amritdhari Sikh student board a bus at Amtrak in Davis city of US state California was distressing.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said in the statement requested the Indian government to take up the issue of attacks on Sikhs with various foreign governments at the diplomatic level.
“Everyday, Amritdhari Sikhs abroad were insulted on some pretext or the other,” he said, adding that the SGPC intended to deal with the issue.
The SGPC has been planning to open International Sikh Centre at Yuba City in the US to disseminate information about the distinct Sikh identity, SGPC president reportedly added.
