1984 Genocide: AAP’s Phoolka to take out Cycle march against Capt. Amarinder’s clean chit to Cong. leaders

December 13, 2015 | By

Amritsar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will take out a cycle march on Sunday from Tarn Taran to Amritsar to protest against the clean chit given by Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh to his party colleagues Kamal Nath and Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 Sikh genocide related cases.

The cycle march will be led by AAP leader and senior Supreme Court advocate H S Phoolka.

“Our aim is not just to protest but to make Captain realise his folly of giving a clean chit to Kamal Nath and Jagdish Tytler in the ‘84 massacre related case and claiming that the two had no hand in the riots in Delhi. He should backtrack on his stand and tender an apology to the Sikhs in general and the riot-affected families in particular,” Advocate H S Phoolka said, while addressing the media-persons at Tarn Taran.

“Captain is a former chief minister and a Sikh leader and is well known. So when such a person makes any statement then it is bound to be taken seriously and cannot be dismissed. So to stop him and to make him realise his mistake, we are holding this protest and will continue to do so till he relents,” the AAP leader said.

HS Phoolka reiterated that Amarinder had given the clean chit to his party colleagues just to please the Congress high command and for becoming the president of the Punjab Congress. “The former chief minister must rethink his stand, as it can cause a great deal of damage to the riot victims who have not yet got justice,” he added.

“The Sikhs appreciated Amarinder when he resigned from Parliament and the Congress party after June 1984 attack on Darbar Sahib. But his ‘clean chit’ has baffled the Sikh community,” he added.
