Amritsar, Punjab: The broadcast of Gurbani Kirtan from Darbar Sahib Amritsar was reportedly stopped by Akashvani (All India Radio, Jalandhar) last evening (July 1) to air Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event on Digital India. The move has irked various Sikh circles, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC).
SGPC Additional Secretary Diljeet Singh said there was no broadcast of Gurbani from the Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) between 4.30 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday.
He informed that the SGPC has written a letter to India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting raising objection against AIR’s move to skip Gurbani Kirtan.
