A resolution condemning the Haryana Government’s decision in this regard was unanimously opposed in the Badal Dal’s Core Committee held here at Chief Minister’s residence this evening.

The party opposed this move of Haryana Govt. and described it as anti-Punjab stance just to gain political mileage in the forthcoming assembly polls in Haryana.

The resolution passed by Badal Dal further said that Punjab could not allow sharing a single drop of its river waters with Haryana as it was already facing acute water scarcity. The resolution also says that the state government would never budge an inch from its earlier universally accepted riparian principle as far as the sharing of river water between Punjab & Haryana was concerned. According to this globally settled principle Punjab State had the only legitimate and lawful right over its river waters-the lifeline of Punjabi farmers, the resolution said.

The meeting was attended by the CM and party pattern Parkash SIngh Badal, the party president and Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir SIngh Badal bedsides others including Charanjit Singh Atwal, Jathedar Tota Singh, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Sikandar Singh Malooka, Sucha Singh Langah, Balwant Singh Rammowalia, Prof. Prem SIngh Chandumajra, Nirmal SIngh Kahlon, Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal.

It is notable that Badal Dal’s power ally in Punjab, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), also supported the Haryana state assembly resolution. Moreover, BJP in the center has been prepairing to revive it’s cntroversial project of linking rivers.
