Ludhiana, Punjab (February 23, 2014): While farmers from February 21 Amritsar rally mourn the death of an innocent protester the deputy Chief Minister of Panjab Sukhbir Singh Badal has claimed that the heavy handed approach adopted by the Panjab police was justified. Senior Badal however is busy preparing a lavish welcoming ceremony in Panjab for the Gujrat Chief Minister Narendar Modi.
As per information Punjabi singer Miss Pooja who recently joined the BJP party will also be seen entertaining the troops.
Narendar Modi is currently considered to be the strongest contender in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, however he reamins to be controversial political figure amidst accusations of prepetuating pogrom of Muslim poplution in Gujrat in 2002.
The BJP, a political party holding Hindutva ideology, is and ally of Badal Dal. The longstanding senior leader of BJP, L K Advani has openly admitted in a book he wrote that he had personally persuaded Indra Gandhi to attack the Darbar Sahib in 1984.
It is notable that it was in Gujrat in 2012 that land and property owned by Sikhs was seized by Narindra Modi’s Government and when Sikhs protested they were told that the land belonged to the Government and if Sikhs were not happy with the Governments decisions then they should leave Gujrat.
Due to the controversy surrounding Narendar Modi’s leadership and his past record of political conduct towards minority groups, the highest levels of security measures have been implemented in Panjab.
As per inforamtion more than 10,000 cops would be guarding Modi’s so-called “Fateh Rally” at Jagraon today.
It is clear that emotions will be rife among those who are opposing Modi’s visit to Panjab, certain demonstrations are understood to be planned by various Sikh and non Sikh organisations.
According to Sahara Samay news farmers led by Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan) are burning effigies of Narendra Modi and Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and will show black flags at the SAD- BJP rally in Jagraon on Sunday (today).
The farmers’ organisation has accused the state government of running away from its promise of releasing the compensation amount of Rs 64 crore for families of farmers and farm labourers, who had committed suicide between 2000 and 2011.
