Bhag Milkha Bhag banned in Pakistan over dialogue on 1947 partition

Mumbai, India (July 11, 2013): It is learnt that Pakistan has banned upcoming movie ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’; a film reportedly based on the life of an Indian athlete named Milkha Singh, who is known as ‘flying Sikh’.

According to a news reported by a Punjabi vernacular Farhan Akhtar has played the lead role as Milkha Singh in this movie.

The movie is set for worldwide release on July 12, 2013.

Pakistan’s Censor Board has reportedly objected to a scene where the lead character of the movie, Milkha Singh, refuses to go to Pakistan saying that his family members were killed during the 1947 partition so he won’t go to Pakistan to take part in athletics there.

It is notable that Milkha Singh had became famous in athletics in Pakistan and he had got the title of ‘flying Sikh’ in Pakistan.

According the the producer of the movie ‘Bhag Milkha Bhag’, the movie is based on the events of life of athlete Milkha Singh and they won’t make any changes in the movie and it won’t matter to them if Pakistan censor board allows the screening of this film in Pakistan or not.
