Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) chief has alleged that the call for holding Sarbat Khalsa 2016 on November 10 at Talwandi Sabo was “unprincipled”. He said that by merely naming a gathering as Sarbat Khalsa, such congregation won’t become the Sarbat Khalsa as there are certain norms (maryada) to call and hold the Sarbat Khalsa.
SGPC chief was reacting to recent call by Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann), United Akali Dal (UAD) and other Sikh bodies to hold the Sarbat Khalsa 2016 at Talwandi Sabo on November 10. Earlier these bodies had held Sarbat Khalsa 2015 at village Chabba, near Tarn Taran on Nov. 10 last year. These groups had announced to hold the Sarbat Khalsa on Vaisakhi 2016 but later announced to postpone it in wake of arrest of certain leaders who were appointed as Jathedars of the Sikh Takhats during 2015 Sarbat Khalsa.
