Washington, DC: The Sikh Coalition, in partnership with Ensaaf and Human Rights Watch, sent a letter to US President Barack Obama, on Nov. 03 (2014), urging him to support justice for the 1984 anti-Sikh massacres, which claimed the lives of thousands of Sikhs throughout India 30 years ago.
Noting that the architects of the premeditated violence have escaped justice, the letter calls upon the Obama Administration and the State Department to prioritize this issue in its engagement with India.
The Sikh Coalition has urged it’s supporters to get involved for extending helping hands to the survivors of the Sikh genocide 1984. “As the survivors of the 1984 anti-Sikh pogroms continue their struggle for justice in India, we encourage Sikh Coalition supporters to take action in support of justice and remembrance” reads a community update by the Sikh Coalition.
