Current Encirclement of Sikhs by the Delhi Darbar: What Sikhs Need to Do?

July 15, 2024 | By

On July 12, 2024, a poignant Shaheedi Samagam was held at Gurdwara Shaheed Singhan in Panjwar village to honor the memory of Shaheed Labh Singh. The event brought together a large gathering of Sikh devotees and leaders who reflected on the significant contributions of Sikh martyrs and the broader historical context of Sikh struggles.

Sikh Siyasat editor Parmjeet Singh Gazi delivered a compelling address, emphasizing the vastness of the Ghallughara in June 1984 and the subsequent Sikh genocide of November 1984. He articulated the importance of the Jujharoo struggle initiated by Sikh youth following these tragedies, underscoring their resilience and commitment to the Khalsa Panth.

Parmjeet Singh Gazi’s remarks extended to the current state of Sikh politics, where he pointed out the disarray, confusion, and factionalism that plague electoral Sikh politics of Punjab. He emphasized upon urgent need to establish a Panthic mechanism for Sewa Sambhal, which should operate independently of any electoral bodies, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

Emphasizing the significance of collective leadership, Parmjeet Singh Gazi advocated for a framework based on Panch Pardhani and Gurmata, which would ensure inclusive decision-making and align with Sikh traditions. This, he argued, is essential for strengthening the Sikh community and its institutions in the face of contemporary challenges.
