Amritsar: Dal Khalsa led delegation met Ms Valérie Wagner a senior official in the Switzerland government and apprised her about the rise of Hindu radicalism under the rule of Narendra Modi.
The delegation met her for an hour at parliament house in Bern- capital of the Switzerland. Valérie Wagner looks after Asia in Human Security Division at Federal department of Foreign Affairs.
Dal Khalsa secretary for human rights Prithpal Singh said the minorities and Dalits in India are reeling from rising radicalism. He told the lady official that cow vigilante groups feel emboldened under Modi’s rule. “The lynching of Dalits and Muslims by cow vigilantes and pseudo-patriots has become order of the day. ‘In the name of cow’, Dalits and Muslims are being slaughtered by frenzied mobs engineered by Hindutva elements”.
Dalits and Muslims are facing worst kind of mob violence all over the India especially in the cow-belt states. Not a day passes when they are not subjected to hatred and intolerance, said he. He further told Swiss authorities that the people are disillusioned and scared. They are fast losing faith in democracy”.
Referring to Indian Prime Minister Modi’s condemnation on rise of violent attacks on cattle traders, beef eaters and dairy farmers, Singh told her that it’s too mild to reverse the situation. “PM’s empty words minus action mean nothing”.
Singh also discussed the human rights situation in Kashmir, Punjab and elsewhere with the lady officer. Deploring the studied silence of international community, he told the lady officer that ‘Kashmir is bleeding and the world is mum’. Even the United Nations is unmoved by sufferings and pain of Kashmiri people.
Accompanied by human rights activist Bishan Singh, he urged the Swiss government to press upon the UN to intervene and help the minorities and Dalit’s from further persecution.
The statement was released to the media by party office in Amritsar today.
