New Delhi, India (January 27, 2013): As per media reports at least 42 per cent voters today cast their votes as the polling for Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) ended by and large peacefully.
“There were some incidents of altercations and one polling agent died, leaving behind speculations weather he died a natural death due to heart attack or was he being intimidated for being the polling agent of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)” Punjab News Line (PNL).
According to information the polling was held on January 27, 2013 at 544 polling stations in Delhi amid heavy security arrangements.
The polling was lower in the morning but witnessed more people coming our in the afternoon but still the turn out lesser than 44 per cent of last time.
The Sikh voters did not came out to cast their vote to elect their representatives for the statutory body, controlling Gurdwaras in India’s capital, despite the high pitched campaign between Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi), headed by Paramjit Singh Sarna and his brother Harvinder Singh Sarna and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) headed by Sukhbir Singh Badal.
There were 265 candidates for 45 seats and result shall be declared on January 30, 2013.
