Before the flames could be put out, three Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib were burnt. As per Times of India (TOI), Malkiat Singh, a resident of Miran Kot, informed that there was a short circuit in a ceiling fan’s wiring, which led to fire in the room where the Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib were installed. He said at the time of the incident, there was no Sewadar in the room. As a preventive measure, the administration deployed police force to avoid any untoward incident.

While condemning the incident, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has announced to hold an inquiry into the incident.
