Chandigarh: The counting for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha by-election is underway in Gurdaspur on Sunday,it is witnessing a three-cornered race among Congress’s Punjab unit chief Sunil Jakhar, BJP’s Swaran Salaria and AAP’s Major General (retd) Suresh Khajuria.
Two counting centres have been set up for the counting of votes. For six assembly constituencies of Gurdaspur district, counting center has been set up at Sukhjindra College Gurdaspur and for three assembly constituencies of Pathankot district, counting centre has been set up at the SD College in Pathankot. The counting started at 8 am, media reports said.
Initially the media reports suggest that Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar is currently leading by around 42,000 votes followed by Swaran Singh Salaria of SAD (Badal)-BJP combine. AAP’s Major General (retd) Suresh Khajuria is trailing at third position.
