Gurmeet Pinky seeks FIR against former DGP Sumedh Saini

Chandigarh: Former police cat turned cop Gurmeet Pinky has moved a complaint to the Chandigarh Police against former Punjab DGP and Chairman of the Police Housing Corporation, Punjab, Sumedh Saini and Amandeep Kumar, aka Skoda, allegeing that he paid Rs 50 lakh to them for getting himself reinstated in the Punjab Police.

In his complaint Gurmeet Pinky mentioned that he worked in Punjab police for 19 years before being dismissed on 17 Nov. 2006 from him service after being sentenced to imprisonment for life. He said that he was released on remission of his sentence on May 05, 2014 and he has been staying in Sector 34-C in Chandigarh.

Former cat-turned-cop said in his complaint that in the month of December in 2014 one Nawab Singh, a known person, approached him at his village and he was accompanied by another man named Amandeep Kumar alias Skoda, who was introduced to be a tout of politicians and senior police officials.

“During conversation with them, an offer for complainant’s reinstatement into service was made by Skoda in lieu of payment of Rs. 50 lakh” reads the complaint, which states further that Gurmeet Pinky did not accept Skoda’s offer, however, later on he reposed faith on Skoda as he was continuously talking to senior police officials on his mobile on hand free mode.

Complaint moved by Gurmeet Pinky also mentions that on 1 Jan, 2015 Skoda again approached him at his Chandigarh residence and assured him of his reinstatement. “It may be added here Skoda had a telephonic talk on had free mode with [Sumedh Saini], then DGP, Punjab with regard to complainant’s reinstatement and he was called by said officer (Sumedh Saini) at his residence”, the complaint reads further.

In his complaint Gurmeet Pinky alleged that he had paid Rs. 50 lakh, in two instalments of Rs. 30 lakh and 20 lakh, to Skoda as bribe for police officials to get him reinstated in the police force.

Pinky claimed Amandeep acknowledged the payment of Rs 30 lakh by way of an affidavit dated April 8.

He said that he was asked to pay the remaining amount of Rs 20 lakh on his reinstatement.

Pinky alleged that he paid the remaining of Rs 20 lakh to Amandeep on May 15 and collected his orders of reinstatement in the police. Pinky has stated that on May 24, he was served orders of revocation of his reinstatement.

Pinky has alleged that Saini misused his official position and duped him of Rs 50 lakh in connivance with Amandeep. Pinky said he apprehended a threat to his life.

The complaint was sent to the Sector 26 police station. Sources in the UT police said the complaint was received this evening through a registered post.

In his complaint Pinky has demanded registration of FIR against Sumedh Saini, Amandeep Kumar Skoda and others named as accused in the complaint under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and the Indian Penal Code.
