Chandigarh: Media reports say that former Aam Aadmi Party state convenor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi may join the Congress party. Gurpreet Ghuggi had quit the Aam Aadmi Party yesterday after his unceremonial removal from convenor-ship of the Punjab unit of AAP few days back.
Sikh Siyasat News could not reach Gurpreet Ghuggi for his comments however, a news report on The Tribune’s website maintains that Gurpreet Ghuggi has refused to comment on this issue.
“He has not bid adieu to politics. Joining the Congress is the best available option”, The Tribune quotes an aide (name not disclosed) of Gurpreet Ghuggi.
Sources in Congress party told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Gurpreet Ghuggi’s induction in Congress party is almost set.
The Tribune has quoted a leader (name not disclosed) of Congress party saying: “[o]nce he is with us, we will consider his candidature for the Gurdaspur seat”
A byelection to the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat has been necessitated owing to the death of BJP MP Vinod Khanna. Ghuggi’s entry into the Congress is bound to be opposed by certain leaders, notes TT.
