Ludhiana: The Court of Judicial Magistrate Sumit Sabharwal on Tuesday (Oct. 9) recorded the statement of a complainant in a criminal case filed against former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. The hearing in this case is adjourned by the court to November 1.
The complainant seeks action against duo citing their involvement in the firing incident at Behbal Kalan taking lives of innocent persons who were demanding punishment for culprits of Beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari.
In its evidence before the court, complainant Jagdeep Singh Gill, president of the Samajik Jagriti Front, has maintained that firing on the peaceful agitating persons was done at the instance of the former Chief Minister and former Deputy Chief Minister.
“All police officials present at the site told the gathering that order of firing on the gathering came from then Chief Minister and then Deputy Chief Minister,” says the complainant.
The complainant has further alleged that the motive of the accused to order firing on the peaceful gathering was to get political benefits and gains, notes a report in The Tribune.
The order of firing caused the deaths and injuries to several persons. The local police did not have the courage or authority to fire at the peaceful gathering who was protesting against the sacrilege of Shri Guru Granth Sahib.
