Firing started at 12.45 p.m and is still going on (at 2 p.m.) till the last reports came in.

Pertinently eight civilians were killed on LoC in the Jammu region since Oct 6, while over 60 were injured.

As many as 30,000 border residents are presently living in relief camps set up by the state government away from the areas vulnerable to Pakistani shelling.

Meanwhile Pakistan today blamed India for ceasefire violations and said it is only responding to the situation created on the Line of Control by India.

“We did not start the violation of the ceasefire, we have not escalated the situation and our response has been strong but measured,” Foreign Office (FO) spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said at the weekly briefing.

“We are simply responding to a situation that has been created on the LoC and the working boundary,” she said.
