Ludhiana, Punjab: A US Sikh citizen who is facing accusations of disturbing law and order was today produced before a local court in Ludhiana for the fifth time. Like his earlier appearances, the court deferred next date to April 30 without any debate on charges against him.
Ravinderjeet Singh Gogi (Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s son), is a US citizen, who had come to look after his father who was observing hunger strike since January 16 seeking release of Sikh political prisoners. The police was pressurising Gogi to convince his father to end his hunger strike but when he refused to do so he was detained under ‘preventive detention’ law.
A delegation of American Consulate today paid visit to Ludhiana Court to inquire about the health conditions of Ravinder Jeet Singh Gogi. But the police didn’t allow them to meet him.
When the local supporters of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa tried to contact the Police Administration seeking permission to meet Bhai Gogy, they kept them busy in bye passing from one officer to another. Meanwhile, the court fixed April 30 as next date of case.
