Terming it as a mockery of justice, the Dal Khalsa chief H S Dhami has strongly condemned the pre-mature release of infamous renegade and human rights violator Gurmit Singh Pinky from Nabha jail. In a strong worded statement, he said it’s ironic that a killer of innocent Sikh boy Avtar Singh has been set free after remitting his remaining sentence while those convicts who have served 20 years are still languishing in jails courtesy the Badals.

He said Pinki has always remained the darling of the police higher-ups including present DGP Sumedh Singh Saini despite his criminal background.

Slamming Badals, Dhami said the political leadership has bowed before the police leadership. It’s the writ of police leadership that has prevailed while the wounds and sentiments of the deceased family members have been ignored.

“The saddest part is that Punjab govt has given Pinki seven year remission (out of his 14 years detention) whereas many other lifer convicts were awaiting the same favour from the govt for years and Badals had hardly shown any interest in their cases”. He said the single act of Badals have shaken the trust of victim’s family member and justice seekers from the system. “The release of Pinki has unmasked the father-son duo”.
