Jathedar Akal Takht should take cognizance of serious allegations leveled against his “Panth Rattan”: says Dal Khalsa

February 15, 2014 | By

Amritsar, Punjab (February 15, 2014): Dal Khalsa leader Kanwar Pal Singh said Akali leaders and the Central leaders met secretly to consult last time on May 26. As both sides have observed a vow of silence on this question whether they discuss the impending army assault, the organization spokesperson has asked the Jathedar Akal Takht to direct Parkash Singh Badal and Surjit Singh Barnala to reveal whether the allegations of their acquiescing in the operation were true.

Revelations made by then Chandigarh IG Raghbir Singh and ex-RA&W officer B Raman in his book about meetings between Akali leaders and Government representatives at Chandigarh guest house and later at RA&W’s guest house in Delhi respectively leaves impression that Akalis knew that the storming of the Darbar Sahib was inevitable, said he.

Significantly, Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra has confirmed about these meetings in a book written by senior journalist who covered Punjab unrest. As more and more skeletons have started tumbling down from the Akali cupboard, Panth seeks answer from its religio-political leadership, said he.

He said the troika of Badal, Balwant, Barnala has always sided with New Delhi against the Sikhs. Since the operation resulted in blowing up the Akal Takht with battle tanks and spilling the blood of innocent pilgrims on the floor of the sacred shrine, the responsibilities rests on Jathedar Akal Takht Gaini Gurbachan Singh who is custodian of Sikh principles and quami honour, to take cognizance of the serious allegations of backstabbing being leveled against a person, who has been bestowed ‘Panth Rattan’ title by him.

He said “if Badal doesn’t want to go down in history as ‘villain’ who colluded with the perpetrator, he should voluntarily present himself at Akal Takht and speak out truth and only truth.

He was equally critical of Captain Amrinder Singh for his sommersaults. “Captain Sahib should also stop playing double game and finding solace from the controversy”. He said Amrinder should not forget that it was his mentor and Congress head Indira Gandhi, who in the capacity of Prime Minister of Hindu-India masterminded the operation and all her attempts of so-called settlement, were mere smokescreen.
