Amritsar, Punjab: In a message addressed to the Sikh Panth the Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has told the Sikh community to mark August 14 as “Ardas Divas” and offer prayer for easy access to Sikh Gurdwara that became part of Pakistan following partition in 1947.
Giani Gurbachan Singh said as per “Hukumnama” issued by Akal Takhat Sahib on 25 January 1952, Sikhs in their daily prayers have sought the Waheguru’s blessing for granting them easy access to those Gurudwaras from which Panth has been separated.
While directing Sikhs in India and in other countries to observe August 14 as ‘Ardas Divas’, Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said that even after 68 years of Partition Sikhs had not forgotten the shrines they had left behind in Pakistan and continued to seek “easy access” to these. Raising the demand for a visa centre in Amritsar, Giani Gurbachan Singh said: “The access to our shrines will become easy if Pakistan agrees.”
