Khadur Sahib, Punjab (May 06, 2014): Terming it a remarkable achievement, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Nishan-e-Sikhi informed Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that hockey team of Khadur Sahib based Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Senior Secondary School have won 10th All India Dr. BR Ambedkar Inter-school hockey tournament held at Railway hockey ground of Nagpur (Maharashtra) by defeating team of Odisha in final match with the score of 4-1.
The school is managed under noted environmentalist Baba Sewa Singh Kaar Sewa Wale who also runs Baba Uttam Singh National Hockey Academy.
Prabhjot Singh, star player of the team, was awarded with “Best player of the tournament” and Captain Sumitpal Singh got “Highest Scorer”. In addition, Parmjit Singh and Jobanpreeet Singh got the awards of “Best Match Winner”.
Team coach Balkar Singh and assistant coach Balwinder Singh informed that the team had defeated Uttar Pradesh (UP) by 5-0 in quarter final and in semi final it defeated Haryana by 3-1.
Falling happy over the splendid victory, Baba Sewa Singh has sent congratulatory message to players and coaches of the team. School director Gurdial Singh Gill said the team has brightened the name of Punjab and its victory is the matter of pride for all Punjabis.
