Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (Aug 27, 2011): A news report from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (India) says that nearly 25 students of Government Law College here were arrested today for attempting to block Chennai-bound Intercity Express at the railway station, demanding immediate repeal of the death sentence of the death row convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The students squatted on the track and raised slogans in support of their demand for repealing the death sentence of Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan, who, they said, have already underone 20 year prison term for the crime. Police removed all the students, who attempted to climb the engine and took them into custody. The train left half an hour behind schedule, police said.
