Nagpur/Maharashtra (Oct. 03): As per media reports tensions prevailed in Nagpur after a mob besieged Sikh Gurdwara in Panchsheel Nagar of Nagpur in Maharashtra.
As per a news reported by The Tribune Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) Jaswant Singh Mann said that a Sikh Gurdwara Sahib was besieged at Panchsheel Nagar (Nagpur) in Maharashtra. He said the Gurdwara was surrounded after two groups clashed over a trivial issue. He said the authorities had imposed a curfew in the area.
SAD (A) leader further said he had spoken to the police in Nagpur and urged them to ensure the safety of the Sikhs. He said that Mann Dal will soon send a team to Sikh Gurdwara in Nagpur.
The media reports did not make mention about the reason that causes tentions but the Bhaskar in it’s Nagpur edition has noted that people outrage affected Durgavati Chowk, Panchsheel Nagar, Indaur Chowk, Mahinder Nagar and Barse Nagar. Mobs restored to stone-throwing and burned tyres at various places. The police reportedly restored to lathicharge to overpower the mobs. As per reports some three police personnel also sustained injuries besides several members of the mob.
As per reports some miscreants threw stones at Panchsheel Nagar based Sikh Gurdwara Sahib. The mobs also beat-up an old women who was criticizing the mob’s attack on Gurdwara Sahib.
The mobs also set afire about four trucks and an ambulance. Miscreants also tried to burn some houses. The police has reportedly sealed
“Earlier in July, a Gurdwara was attacked in Saharanpur in UP and a hand of BJP MP was found in the investigations” notes Punjab Time Line (PTL).
