Ludhiana (December 5, 2009): Once again Badal Government has earned its’ fame in hurting the Sikhs and protecting anti-Sikh forces. As per electronic and web media reports a number of Sikhs led by various heads of Sikh organizations including Sant Samaj and Damdami Taksal were on their way to stop the anti-Sikh propaganda of dummy dera head Ashutosh but the police stopped them about a kilometer away. When Sikhs insisted to go towards the spot of Ashutosh’s function the police opened fire which led to a clash resulting in death of a Sikh devotee. It is reported that about 15 more person including some police personnel are also injured. It could not be known that whether such a function was stopped or continued after the incident.
Various Sikh leaders and organizations, including SGPC and the Akal Takhat had asked the Punjab Government to ban the function as public activities of this dera were banned by previous Government led by Congress leader Capt. Amrinder Singh. But the government under the pressure of BJP did not pay heed to the sentiments expressed by the Sikhs and even deployed heavy forces to support this anti-Sikh dera. A clash was evident and the Government has intentionally suffered the incident and causalities.
Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has a long history of supporting such deras. In 1978 Badal was ruling Punjab when Nirankari incident claimed lives of 13 Sikh devotees. In 2007 Dera sauda sairsa incident took place in which four Sikhs have died and now Badal is supporting Ashutosh who is guilty of speaking against Sikh Gurus and Sikh spirit.
