Chandigarh: After raising verbal opposition to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) plans to carry it’s Hindutva activities in rural Punjab, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa yesterday directed the Panchayati Raj Rural Development Cell of the party to check RSS activities in rural areas.
Partap Bajwa cautioned party workers against the RSS spreading wings in the state at a meeting of the party cell held in the Congress Bhavan. He asserted that RSS activities could lead to communal tension in the region.
RSS activates are already on the rise in Punjab since formation of Narendra Modi led Hindutva government in India. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has visited the state four times in recent times. RSS has revived it’s controversial wing Rashtriya Sikh Sangat to carry on Hindutva activities while projecting Sikh faces. RSS has decided to hold it’s daily activity called Shakha in Punjab villages.
