Patta-Patta Singhan Da Vairi revolves around police atrocities of post-1984 period in Punjab [Review]

Ontario: Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi is second movie of Raj Kakra. His first movie ‘Qaum De Heere’ was banned in India. Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi was also banned in India by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but it was cleared by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT).
Patta Patta Singhan Da Vairi is a story of Satnam Singh, a college student in Punjab resides in a Punjab village. His sister comes to meet him with her son and leaves her son with Satnam as he has school holidays.
Satnam Singh goes to collage next day and confront some students from other group who are forcing a strike (Bandd) in collage, he beats them up as they have exams.
On martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan ji, Local Gurudwara holds a “chabeel” (sweet-water distribution) in Gurdwara compound and invited dhadi jatha’s for holding a samagam.
One CRPF informer gives wrong information to CRPF that some “anti social elements” are in the Gurudwara in disguise and CRP surround Gurudwara and starts firing. As Satnam Singh’s nephew is also in the Gurudwara, Satnam rushes towards Gurudwara but CRP stops him in spite of pleadings.
Satnam then goes to Ganga Singh, local leader’s bunglow and finds him in conversation with few police officer and other leaders . they are talking how to finish sikh youths from Punjab. Satnam is astonished to hear all this. He shouts at them and they fires at Satnam who get a bullet in shoulder but runs out saying that he will not allow their mission to succeed.
CRP kills many in Gurudwara and Satnam’s nephew is also killed in the firing. Police goes to Satnam’s sister’s house to search for him, his sister and brother-in-law are untraceable. Their bulls and buffalos dies of hunger.

He comes to know from an informer that Head of Police along with leaders makes a full proof plan to eliminate Sikhs. The film shows struggle against atrocities regime through life-struggle of Satnam Singh, played by Punjabi lyricists turned singer- cum- actor Raj Kakra.
