Preneet Kaur faces wrath of rights group after calling Canadian Sikhs as “extremists”; SJF seek ban of Congress Party Leaders into Canada

Toronto, Canada (November 07, 2012): Taking a strong exception to PM Singh and Minister Preneet Kaur’s statement branding Canadian Sikhs as supporters of terrorism, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) termed it yet another attempt to cover up the November 1984 Genocidal attacks and continuation of malicious campaign against Canadian Sikhs for exposing India’s human rights violations.
SFJ announced to lobby with the Canadian Government to ban the entry of leaders of Congress (I) for their role in conspiring, aiding, abetting and carrying out Genocidal attacks on Sikhs during November 1984. Section 35 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act of Canada prohibits the entry into Canada of a human rights violator.

Sikhs for Justice
There is ample evidence that top leadership of ruling party of India organized and orchestrated genocidal attacks on Sikhs during November 1984 and it has been Indian Government’s policy to keep branding Sikhs living in Canada as “supporters of terrorism” who are demanding prosecution of Kamal Nath, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and other leaders of the Congress Party.
Questioning the real motives behind Indian authorities recent statements, attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ stated that “if making India accountable for crime of Genocide against Sikhs is considered “anti-India rhetoric” as alleged by PM Singh and Minister Kaur, then what would the Canadian and Australian Parliaments be considered who have supported the Sikh community’s demand for justice.” Instead of suppressing the voice of Sikh community by branding them “anti India” – supporters of terrorism, India should focus on prosecuting the perpetrators of genocidal attacks on Sikhs, something that it has failed to do for the past 28 years.”
Jatinder Singh Grewal, Director International Policy SFJ stated that the Sikh community is already disgruntled for having been denied justice for past 28 years and for suppression of their voice, now this malicious attack by PM Singh and Minister Kaur will further alienate them from India. We will lobby with our Government to ban the entry of Congress leaders for gross human rights violations, added Grewal.
Successive Indian governments always portrayed the genocidal attacks on Sikhs during November 1984 as “anti-sikh riots” till the gravity, scale and specially the organized nature of these attacks was exposed with the recent discoveries of mass graves of Sikhs killed in village Hondh-Chillar, Pataudi, Gurgaon in the state of Haryana and several other discoveries in the states of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) a human rights organization, believes and adheres to Universal Declaration of Human Rights. SFJ endeavors to create an environment in which minorities – regardless of race, religion, language, gender, or ethnicity – can freely exercise their right to “self determination” as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and United Nations Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. SFJ is also striving to collect and disseminate information, statistics, figures and data regarding the Genocide of Sikhs (1984-1998) that took place in India with particular emphasis on the genocidal events of November 1984.
