Punjab government bans controversial Sirsa godman’s MSG movie

Chandigarh: As per recent reports, the Punjab government today imposed ban on the screening of controversial Sirsa godman and Dera Sauda Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s movie “Messenger of God (MSG)”. The ban was imposed by Punjab government amidst speculations that the controversial movie could be could be released on January 18.

The movie was initially stalled by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but it was reportedly got cleared by BJP led government at Center. CBFC chairperson and 9 other CBFC members have already resigned from their posts in protest against Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s alleged interference in matters related to the Censor Board.

The Punjab government today formally issued bar against public screening of the movie in theatres/ cinemas or multiplexes in Punjab. There were apprehensions of clashes if the movie was allowed to be screened in Punjab.
