Patiala (February 22, 2010): Punjab Police has finally showed the arrest of Jasbir Singh Jassa of Manki Village on February 21, 2010. As per news reported by various sections of media the Punjab Police claims that ‘with the arrest of two suspected militants of Khalistan Libration Force (KLF) by Patiala police near Nabha in this district on Sunday, the police claimed to have foiled a yet another attempt of militant to strike in the region.’
Paramjeet Singh Gill, IPS, IGP/Zonal-I, Punjab, Patiala told media persons yesterday that both arrested militants, Javir Singh and Harjant Singh, were in touch top militant of KLF Bakhshish Singh alias ‘BABA’ of Samana-Patiala. Baba, who is absconding since Karnal Bomb attack on Dera chief of Sacha Sauda sect of Sirsa two years back. He had left for Pakistan. Now, Bakhshish Singh alias Baba has returned to India on November 2009. Jasvir Singh alias Jassa and Harjant Singh helped him for facilitating his stay.
Gill claimed that During interrogation, Jasvir Singh alias Jassa and Harjant Singh alias DC told that they both remained involved in terrorist activities during the years of terrorism and were remained lodged in the Maximum Security Jail, Nabha for long period in terrorist cases, where they had met Arrangements of arms, ammunition and explosives were made by Harminder Singh alias Mintu alias Dalli alias Goa from Mumbai, who is residing in Malaysia through Harjant Singh alias DC on telephone.
Bakhsish Singh alias Baba with the help of Pargat Singh s/o Bahal Singh, Jat r/o Balwan, PS Dhuri, Jasvir Singh alias Jassa and Harjant Singh alias DC planted bomb at LPG Gas Bottling Plant, Nabha and Sudhar Airforce Centre near Halwara but the bombs did not explode due to technical reasons.
It is notable that last Thursday wife and brother of Jasbir Singh Jassa had alleged that Jassa along with his younger brother Darshan Singh was in illegal custody of Patiala Police since 13 February, 2010. But the police regularly denied their arrest and detention. Karamjeet Kaur, wife of Jasbir Singh had informed the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court through telegram.
A Punjab based NGO Sikhs for Human Rights (SFHR) on Thursday urged the Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh and Punjab State Human Rights Commission to immediately intervene in the matter. There is no information available regarding Darshan Singh till now, that whether he is still in custody or has been released.
